FAQ
Below are some FAQs about MCA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We will be located close to downtown. Incubation location will be announced before application opens. We will partner with local universities for athletic fields and will provide bus transportation in proximity to most families.
Will everyone be required to play a sport?
Every student will be required to be on a team. We deeply believe in the power of sports teams, but there are lots of ways students can contribute to a team if they are not interested in being on the field or court. Managers, videographers, announcers, student assistants, assistant trainers are all part of a successful team and central to the mission of MCA.
Will you only have 9th graders
In 2027 we will only have 9th graders, but we plan to grow a grade each year until 2031 when we will be a 480 student campus complete with most sports programs.
What sports will you offer?
In year 1 we intend to offer:
Fall: Football, Volleyball, and Girls Soccer
Winter: Boys and Girls Basketball & Co-ed Bowling
Spring: Boys Soccer, Girls Flag Football, and Track & Field

That said, we are open to additional sports based on enrollment family and student demand and coaching availability. If you would like to see another sport offered year one, please email kevin@musiccityacademy.org with your ideas.
Is MCA free?
Yes, charter schools are free public schools and MCA will be open to all Davidson County residents. If we have more applicants than available spots we will hold a certified lottery and create a waitlist for those not selected.
